John Deere HarvestLab 3000

The near-infrared (NIR) sensor allows you to analyse various constituents within harvested crops, silage, or slurry.

The HarvestLab 3000 hardware reflects state-of-the-art technology and builds on millions of hours of in-field experience. It provides you with not just one random sample value, but real time statistically solid on-the-go samples.

Errors that usually occur during manual sample collection, like oxygen or heat exposure until the sample arrives at the next laboratory are eliminated. Finally, all data is displayed and site-specifically documented in real time.

This allows operators to adjust settings and enables automated machine optimisation while still in the field instead of waiting several days for laboratory results.

The NIR sensor allows automated length of cut adjustment based on dry matter for crop harvesting and analysis of constituents, not only during filling but also during slurry application. You can also use the HarvestLab 3000 as a laboratory unit at a storage facility or office, allowing accurate feed rationing and livestock health.

Harvest lab use

The John Deere HarvestLab 3000 is one sensor with three applications;

1. Forage Harvester

Moisture in the crop can vary by up to 20% in a single field requiring different length of cut to ensure ideal silage compaction without oxygen enclosures. The HarvestLab 3000 when fitted to a John Deere forage harvester enables automated length of cut based on dry matter content. Automatic silage inoculant rate adjustments help to optimise fermentation and can save up to 10% of silage additives. Added to this, the ability to get highly accurate, real-time readings on crude protein, starch, crude fibre, NDF, ADF, sugar and crude ash. This allows you to invoice or purchase harvested crops based on quality not quantity.

2. Manure Sensing

Manure is a nutrient-rich organic fertiliser. Until recently, natural variance and rapid settling left the success of manure fertilisation to chance. With John Deere Manure Sensing, you have the advantage of being able to apply NPK precisely based in a nutrient target, and limit rate in kg/ha and utilise site specific prescription maps. John Deere Manure Sensing can analyse constituent's not only during filling, but also during application the second before nutrients hit the soil. John Deere Manure Sensing data can be wirelessly sent to the John Deere Operations Centre for further processing.

3. Mobile Laboratory

The HarvestLab 3000 can be used as a laboratory unit, providing value all year round. Simply connect to an external power supply or vehicle power outlet which keeps you completely mobile and provides instant information wherever you are. Real-time results assist to ensure proper bulk management, accurate feed rationing and livestock health. As a result you can save on unnecessary supplements while achieving higher yields in beef, dairy or biogas production and in return achieve higher business profitability.
